I don't believe Armageddon refers ambiguously to the end of the world, but rather one event that will help to usher in Christ's second coming. Armageddon came from Hebrew [Har-Megiddo], & literally means "War at Megiddo," which is a mountain roughly 60 miles from Jerusalem. I believe that all nations will eventually rise up against Israel. When the Jews are nigh unto destruction, Christ will come to their aid, opening the Mount of Olives so that the Jews may flee to safety. Once they are under the protection of their Savior, the Jews will shout praises that their Messiah has finally come. Christ will then show the marks in his hands & feet that testify of His crucifixion. At that point, the Jews will come to accept Christ as their Messiah.

Not as some future final confrontation between good and evil. That confrontation is ongoing in our lives. However, Jesus Christ conquered death when he rose from the grave. His resurrection gives me the assurance that I too can overcome death and hell by my obedient faith.
